For starters…
We’ve always been foodies and enjoyed creating in the kitchen. We are not chefs, we simply love food!
Food brings people together, it’s a real family thing to sit and eat together and we want to bring that home. There’s something about the cooking process, the pride of showing off a family favourite recipe and the delight of sharing it with others.
We wanted to find everyday people (like you and us) who were willing to share these family gems and national favourite recipes. Go shopping with them to see their produce, cook and eat with them in their homes.
To complicate matters further, we decided to involve our girls aged 7 & 3 and with six weeks over the summer holidays to fill we set out to locate our willing participants.
After a lengthy and quite arduous search we found a network of people who were willing to get involved (phew). We will be cooked for in at least 7 countries and travelling through many more. Getting to know our guests and having the opportunity to discover about their interests, influences, family attitudes towards food and much more.
So our journey begins Friday 23rd July. On our travels we will head as north as Norway and as south as Italy, as east as Hungary and back west to Brittany. To whet your appetites we’ve been invited to bake Hungarian bread in beehive ovens, and eat meatballs in Berlin.
But wait! what will the children think? Will we need to resort to pasta or fish and chips for them? Or will they take to these delectable delights like locals.
How will the journey go? Follow us and find out!
